They say that the average person keeps roughly 13 secrets. I’m not sure how accurate that is and I’m not advocating that your entire life be an open book to everyone but I do know that keeping even minor secrets can not only erode trust in a relationship, it can also make you mentally & physically ill.
Marriage stands on trust, feeds on trust and lasts because of trust placed in your best friend, soul mate, and partner for life.
This was a great article I found that spoke about the kinds of secrets most commonly kept, what kinds of secrets might be better kept and the differences between the two. Lots of great links inside and substantial authoritative sources.
End game? “If revealing a secret to your partner causes them to reject you, then it may not be a good-quality relationship to begin with”, a quote from the article and one I wholeheartedly agree with.
